Six Month Smiles is a great cosmetic solution for Richardson and Plano patients with:
Six Month Smiles is an outstanding option for those primarily concerned with alignment issues of the front teeth. Often referred to as the “social six,” these are the teeth that are most visible when you smile. If your concerns extend past these six teeth, you might be better suited for traditional orthodontics.
The surest way to know if Six Month Smiles is right for you is to attend a consultation with our dentist. During this visit, Dr. Haney can assess your needs and help you explore your treatment options. In general, good candidates for this cosmetic solution are:
Our Treatment vs. Metal Braces
Traditional braces consist of metal wires, bands, and brackets. These components apply gentle, steady pressure to the teeth, gradually moving them into their desired positions. Traditional braces are incredibly effective. However, they are quite noticeable. For this reason, many patients decide to forego orthodontic treatment altogether. In most instances, it takes about 18 to 24 months to straighten teeth using traditional metal braces.
In contrast, Six Month Smiles uses see-through brackets and white wires that blend in with your natural teeth. As a result, this treatment method is discreet. In fact, these braces are virtually unnoticeable. Treatment with Six Month Smiles is also much faster compared to treatment with traditional braces, primarily because it focuses only on the teeth that show when you smile.
Attend Initial Consultation
The first step of any procedure is to meet with your doctor during an initial consultation. During this visit, Dr. Haney will speak with you in detail about your personal aesthetic goals and design a customized treatment plan.
Have Braces Placed
If you are a candidate for Six Month Smiles, we will schedule an appointment for you to have your braces placed – a process that typically only takes about one hour.
Start Seeing the Effects
During the first month, your teeth will adjust to your new oral appliance, and your teeth will begin shifting. Generally, patients will notice an obvious and gradual improvement in their smile every month.
Adjustments & Final Results
During this time, some adjustments will be necessary to keep your progress on track. In most cases, the desired outcomes can be achieved in only six months. The result? A beautiful smile and a boost in self-confidence.
Are you self-conscious about your smile? Do you constantly cover your teeth when you laugh, talk, or pose for pictures? Despite these concerns, many patients avoid orthodontic treatment because they do not want to wear metal braces for two years. Six Month Smiles, offered at our Richardson, TX practice serving Plano and surrounding communities, is an excellent solution for patients looking to quickly correct gapped teeth or a misaligned bite. This treatment option gradually moves the teeth using tooth-colored wires and clear brackets for a discreet look. Dr. G. Brooks Haney has extensive knowledge in this type of orthodontic treatment and is the Assistant Clinical Director and a Clinical Instructor and Mentor for Six Month Smiles Braces.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY SIX MONTH SMILES EXPERIENCE!!!
Q) Do Six Month Smiles braces cost more than regular braces and what is all included in Six Month Smiles treatment?
A) No, Six Month Smiles does not generally cost more than traditional braces and can save you a tremendous amount of time. Six Month Smiles treatment includes the 1st visit impressions, xrays, exam, photography, 2nd visit brackets placed (2 hour appointment), all office visits during treatment, and bracket removal and retainer placement at the end of treatment. Once treatment is completed, we also include Kor whitening system, which will include two weeks of at home whitening.
Q) Can my teeth really be straightened in just six months? How is that possible?
A) Dr. Haney utilizes the absolute latest technology at our Richardson office to move teeth quickly and safely. The key is the low pressure nickel-titanium wires that we use on the teeth that show when you smile. Six Month Smiles braces are intended to move the teeth in the smile zone. This technique is not a substitute for full conventional orthodontic treatment, and complex cases may still require a referral to an orthodontist.
Q) The concept sounds terrific, but will I have metal showing in my mouth for six months?
A) No! Six Month Smiles dentists use tooth-colored braces that are barely visible. The wires we use are tooth-colored as well. Six Months Smiles braces look nothing like traditional wire braces.
Q) How are Six Month Smiles more comfortable than regular braces?
A) Six Month Smiles are low-force braces that move teeth more comfortably. Some people assume that a greater force must be applied, but this is not the case. Actually, the pressure is so low because the focus is moving the teeth that show and not realigning the jaw or bite. The emphasis of Six Month Smiles is cosmetic.
Q) Do Six Month Smiles braces damage teeth, roots, or gums?
A) Six Month Smiles braces will not damage your teeth, roots, or gums more than traditional orthodontics. In fact, the risk is less, because the braces are worn for a shorter period of time.
Q) Will I need to wear a retainer when treatment is finished?
A) Absolutely. As with any orthodontic movement, a retainer is required to maintain the position of your new smile. We highly recommend a permanently bonded retainer, but there are other options available.
Q) What’s the catch?
A) There is no catch! If you are 18 years or older and want to change your smile, and you are not looking to make major alterations to your bite, you may be a great candidate. Most adults are candidates for Six Month Smiles.
