Sleep Apnea is more than just snoring. Snoring is a problem, no doubt, especially on those sleeping near you. Some couples sleep in different rooms just because of snoring. This can be avoided and you can sleep more normally.
Sleep Apnea is much more of a Health Issue.
Apnea is when you are not getting enough Oxygen in your lungs due to a constriction of your soft palate or throat that will not let air in. This is actually very bad and sounds terrible. The lack of Oxygen to your body and brain is damaging over the years and can be related to many issues – such as but not limited to heart problems, memory loss, daytime drowsiness, etc.
If you have SLEEP APNEA or if your loved one has sleep apnea you need to refer them to a qualified dentist, physician, sleep specialist as soon as possible. Don’t wait.
A qualified dentist understands that this is a medical condition that must be examined by a physician. In most severe cases as CPAP MACHINE is recommended. In less severe cases the options may exist to make a dental appliance such as the vaunted SOMNOMED OR SOMNODENT APPLIANCE.
