Occlusal Equilibration

Occlusal Equilibration involves the reshaping of the biting surfaces of teeth to improve the function, eliminate improper contacts, and alleviate pressure on individual teeth. This reshaping of the occlusal surfaces of teeth has been shown to be the solution to many conditions that cause discomfort in the head, neck, and shoulders as well as breakdown of dental structures. Equilibration can be defined as the modification of the biting surfaces of opposing teeth to develop harmonious relationships between the teeth themselves, the neuromuscular mechanism, the temporomandibular joints (TMJs) and the structure supporting the teeth.
