Your First Visit and General Exams
Your first visit will begin with Dr. Haney asking what you need and expect from your dental care. He'll listen to your concerns and prior experiences. The more we know about you, the better we can meet your expectations.
During your first visit and at every checkup, we will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your mouth, including checking for signs of oral cancer, gum disease, and tooth decay. We will also look for signs of TMJ disorder and bruxism because these conditions can compromise the future of your oral health.
We use several evaluation technologies, including DIAGNOdent, a gentle laser cavity detection system. Digital X-rays and an intraoral camera provide detailed images that we project onto a convenient chairside monitor. Dr. Haney will discuss his findings and treatment recommendations with you, using the images to aid his explanation. Once you understand your situation, you and Dr. Haney will decide on the best treatment for you.
